Tanning Bed Use FallsPosted on October 12, 2016 by ECR Louisville in Blog
Use of tanning beds declined to 4.2 percent of American adults in 2013, down from 5.5 percent in 2010, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The findings, published in a report in JAMA Dermatology, showed broad declines in the practice of indoor tanning by young people. Just 8.6 percent of Americans ages 18 to 29 tanned indoors in 2013, down from 11.3 percent in 2010. The report’s authors attributed the change to more awareness of the risks posed by indoor tanning, a shift that was aided by new laws to limit use of tanning beds by minors.
