3 Tips for Hearing – and Heart – Health
February is National Heart Month, and we are doing our best to ensure our patients and clients are taking that seriously.
Wait, Avada is a hearing aid company, right? Why would we worry with heart care? Well you might be surprised, but heart and hearing health are actually closely related.
The Better Hearing Institute recommends hearing tests as a part of regular health checkups for those over 40. It’s not just to help you hear better, though. Your cardiovascular health actually correlates with your hearing health. A healthy cardiovascular system can have a positive impact on your hearing.
So where should you start? Here are a few tips for overall heart and hearing health:
Take proper precautions.
The Center for Disease Control states that about 600,000 people die of heart disease in the US every year. That’s 25 percent of all deaths. Heart disease is the leading killer for both US men and women. We’re not trying to scare anyone, but the threat is real and should be taken seriously.
Visit a doctor regularly.
Pay your doctor a visit. They can evaluate your risk factors, such as blood pressure, weight, blood sugar and so on. From there you can figure out how to best attack any issues you may have, or how to maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle. You should get checkups at least annually.
Get your hearing tested.
We firmly believe anyone over 55 years old should have their hearing checked annually. Our hearing tests are completely free and only take an hour. Certain types of hearing loss are considered red flags for cardiovascular disease, so it’s worth taking the time to check-up on your health.
It is never too late to take control of your heart and hearing health. Take a stand today, and improve your tomorrow. There is no excuse to not hear your absolute best. To set up a hearing test, find an Avada near you.
